High X-ray transmission
Low attenuation through the tabletop supports a usable imaging field.
Application & Value
Provide stable patient support with limited interference in imaging.

A patient tabletop must carry loads safely and remain stable during imaging. At the same time, it should attenuate X-rays as little as possible. Mechanical stability and imaging performance therefore need to be considered together.
A composite tabletop combines a stiff load-bearing structure with low X-ray attenuation. Its construction supports the patient’s weight while allowing relatively uniform transmission through the imaging area. Attachments and transitions are considered in relation to the usable imaging field.
Low attenuation through the tabletop supports a usable imaging field.
A stiff structure limits deflection under the specified patient load.
Low structural weight makes removable tabletops and accessories easier to handle.
A load-bearing component can also form part of a measurement or imaging system. Its value then also depends on how little it interferes with the primary function. For other equipment, structural requirements and interaction with the measurement principle should therefore be considered together.
